10 Cupcakes to try

In part I of the sweetness galore, I shared my favorite Ice Cream spots with you. But I had more guilty pleasures, not just ice cream but also cakes, donuts, cookies, chocolate martini’s, candy bars…. Basically everything sweet and unhealthy. Now the last sweet thing I’d like to share with you are cupcakes. I cannot imagine that there’s a less cupcake minded city than New York City. Besides the big M sign, there’s not just a coffee shop on every corner. Also a cupcake place. There’s no way that I will be able to try them all out, but here are my 10 favorites so far (in random order):

 1. A Coconut Cupcake @ DC Cupcakes

(111 Mercer street, between Spring and Prince street. Soho)

 2. Mini Cupcakes  @ Baked By Melissa (various locations all over)

10 x Halloween treats

Two more weeks before Halloween! And I will be so lucky to celebrate it in New York City. Halloween for is one of my favorite festivities of the year and if there is a place to be with Halloween, New York City for sure is the place to be. I love pumpkins but most of all I love to dress up. Whilst normally dressing up like spook or cartoon character is something only little kids are allowed to do, Halloween is such a good excuse for me to go back to my child years and dress up again. I am not sure yet which places to go yet or what outfit to wear, but for sure there will be the parade, a good party, and lot’s of food. And although I might wear a cartoon costume, I am certainly too grown up to play trick or treat. Nonetheless there will be treats. I will just make my own Halloween treats. Here some spooky recipes:

1. This chocolate marshmallow ghost-cake should be easy to make. And the ghosts are supposed to be friendly;-).

2. Another boo-tiful halloween cake with friendly ghosts.

Sweet 4th of July

The 4th of July is around the corner and I am looking forward to celebrate it. Last year was the first time for me watching the fireworks along the Hudson river, how fun was that! This year I won’t be able to watch the fireworks but still want to do something in order to capture this happy moment of independence. Would’t it be fun to celebrate it with sweets?!

The Candy Table Part II

In my previous post, I was telling that I am currently working on the design of a theme- colored candy table. I did not decide about all the details yet but It will be a mix of pink, peach, gold and glitters. Since I have only about half an hour to set things up it can only be a small table with a few simple eye catchers.  Here are a some of the items that I purchased for it.  I am not sure yet whether I will need all of them but I hope my candy table will turn out pretty! Do you have any ideas about what I can do with these items?

The Candy Table Part 1

As a lover of everything everything sweet, I am planning to make a theme- colored candy table for my wedding day. I made lots of paper flowers and cake toppers, decorated some candy jars and bought theme colored candies, fabrics and other cool stuff to make it pop. Curious? I will share some of these items in an upcoming post but here are some pictures that inspired me:

Als een liefhebber van alles wat zoet ik ben ik momenteel bezig met het ontwerpen van een snoeptafel voor mijn trouwfeestje. Ik heb veel papieren bloemen gemaakt, taart toppers, snoeppotten versierd en verschillende stoffen en andere gave dingen gekocht om de tafel eruit te laten springen. Benieuwd naar deze items? Ik zal er een aantal delen in een volgende post maar hier alvast wat inspiratie foto’s:

Ice Cream Part I: 10 Popsicles

Ice Cream

As an ice cream addict I have the bad habit to eat ice cream everyday during warm temperatures. Whether it is a soft serve, sorbet or chocolate corn; I enjoy all kinds of ice cream. Unfortunately eating chocolate cones on a daily basis does not contribute to my mission to stay in shape this summer. Since I still need to fit in my dress, I promised myself to eat more popsicles rather than chocolate cones. To kick start this good intention, I just bought a popsicle mold in order to make my own popsicles so I know what (more healthy) ingredients are in it. I looked up some recipes and these are the pops I want to make:  Continue Reading →

25 Cakes

Source: Target

I am thinking about what cake I would like to eat at my wedding which will be held this august. Since my theme colors are peach, coral, pink and some gold the cake should definitely contain at least one of these colors. Besides the cake being colorful, I also like the cake to to be pretty, romantic and fun. Below I selected 25 cakes that I love so far.
